1. Wind sound
The vibrations came closer.Lin Shuang put her palms against the ground and counted how often the wheels ran over her.
"System, update the number of vehicles."
"Scanning... The leading convoy consists of five armored vehicles, followed by ten modified off-road vehicles as reinforcements, for a total of fifteen vehicles, with 8-12 people per vehicle, about 150 people. It is four kilometers away and is slowing down. It is suspected that it is preparing to set up camp. "
Lin Shuang’s eyes condensed.Five vehicles turned into fifteen – the people who fled back from the pharmaceutical factory reported the news, and the reapers increased their troops.
"Su Lin." Her voice was extremely low, and her words were as cold as nails, "Get up, we will move immediately."
Su Lin was not asleep and opened her eyes when she heard the movement. Her hand reached for the machete - when she was caught last night, she stuffed the machete into the rubble and hid it, and it was still intact when she came back. Her left leg was still swollen, but the laminate that Lin Shuang refixed for her last night took effect. The fractured bone was not dislocated, and the swelling did not worsen.
"Where to move?" Su Lin sat up and supported the wall.
"We can't stay in this basement anymore." Lin Shuang had already started to pack up the supplies, and his movements were crisp and clear. "One hundred and fifty people are not here for us. But after they set up camp, they will clear the place. Sooner or later, this ruins will be turned upside down."
"But looking at the ruins all around, where can we find a second hiding spot?"
Lin Shuang stopped moving and turned to look at her, her eyes calm but showing a sense of loneliness.
"We can't wait for them to find us. While they are camping in chaos, go get some supplies and come back."
Su Lin was stunned, thinking she heard wrongly.
"What did you say?"
"The Reaper convoy has just arrived from the pharmaceutical factory. The entire vehicle is loaded with medicines, medical equipment, and scarce supplies. After setting up camp, only a small number of manpower will be left to guard it. The large force will definitely go out to clear the area, loot and replenish supplies. "
Lin Shuang quickly drew lines on the map, thinking clearly and carefully, "They are sure that there is no force in this area that can compete, and there are at most a dozen guards left behind. What we have to do is to take advantage of the gap where they have just set up camp and the main force has not yet gone out, get in, move supplies, and evacuate immediately."
"Stop!" Su Lin stretched out her hand to hold down the map, with a solemn expression, "Please wake up! There are probably more than a dozen people left behind, but they have automatic rifles. If we get close, we will die!"
"It's not a head-on fight, it's a sneaky theft." Lin Shuang raised his eyes, his eyes as calm as a pool of cold water, "Instead of a head-on confrontation, use the cover of the night to sneak into the supply area, pick out the most needed supplies, and get out quickly."
"How do you determine the storage point for supplies? How do you figure out the guard shift schedule? And how do you determine the time when their main force goes out?"
"Not sure." Lin Shuang folded the map and put it in his inner pocket. He stood up and picked up the stone axe. "First find out where they are. Follow me."
Su Lin stared at her in silence for five seconds, then slowly exhaled a breath of helplessness and admiration.
"The biggest problem with you is that you never leave yourself a way out. You seem to be able to push through any desperate situation."
"It's not that you are conceited, it's that you have no choice." Lin Shuang said indifferently, "The Reaper's presence in this area means that it is completely bound to cooperate with the Hammer Gang. In the future, the raider patrols will only become more and more intensive, and sooner or later the basement will be dug out. Instead of sitting back and waiting to be shot, it is better to strike first while their foothold is not stable."
Su Lin opened her mouth, wanting to say that this was gangster logic, but she swallowed the words when she reached her lips.
" Surviving in the wasteland is the most hard-core principle in itself.
"My legs can walk short distances." Su Lin held on to the steel pipe tightly and moved slowly. She tapped her left leg lightly on the ground to test her strength. The fractured bone still hurt, but fortunately there was no secondary damage from the dislocation. "I can hold it within three kilometers, but I have to stop if it goes further. I can't run at all."
“There’s no need to run wildly, it’s enough to get rid of the pursuers.”
The two men immediately packed up all the belongings in the basement: food, clean water, medicine, weapons, tools, leaving nothing behind. All the wooden boards, chains, and wires that could not be taken away were dismantled and piled in the corner covered with dust and gravel, pretending to be a dilapidated corner that had long been abandoned.
Su Lin carried a backpack filled with dry food and water, while Lin Shuang carried a bag of raw materials, holding a stone ax in his hand and a belt full of knives.
I took one last look at the basement where I had lived for five days.
We met by chance five days ago, and now we are companions who depend on each other for life and death in the wasteland.
"Let's go."
2. Dark place
The Reaper convoy finally stopped in an abandoned factory area four kilometers away from the basement.
The two walked through ruins, ravines, and abandoned construction sites for a full forty minutes, sneaking stealthily along the way. There is a half-collapsed building on the north side of the factory, with six floors left that can be climbed.
The two of them leaned on the window sill and took out old telescopes to observe quietly.
The factory covers an open area, with two factory buildings, one large and one small, plus a large warehouse. The Reaper off-road vehicles formed a circular formation, and the open space in the middle was filled with wooden boxes, plastic barrels, and metal cans brought from the pharmaceutical factory. They were covered with tarpaulins and the materials were neatly stacked.
The camp was full of people.
Lin Shuang raised the telescope and carefully observed the layout of the camp by the light of the fire. At the same time, he asked the system in his mind: "Mark the locations of all the heat sources I see."
"Marking. Direction of factory A: 10 heat source signals; direction of factory B: 15 heat source signals; direction of parking lot: 20 heat source signals; the rest are scattered in the tent area, about 75. There are about one hundred and twenty visible heat sources in total, and the rest may be behind the shelter."
"Are all the materials piled up in Factory B?"
“Factory Building B is the original warehouse, with a single floor and a large space, suitable for stacking things. There is a main entrance and two side doors. There are guards on all sides and there is sufficient lighting inside. "
Lin Shuang put down the telescope, closed her eyes and concentrated, quickly sketching the three-dimensional structure of Factory B in her mind.
800 square meters of space, one main door with three doors on both sides, fifteen guards, brightly lit, it seems airtight, but in fact there must be dead ends.
"Su Lin, look at the north side." She handed over the binoculars and pointed to the back of the factory building. "There is a one-meter-square exhaust vent there. The shutters are mostly rusted and damaged, and it is just big enough for one person to get in. The outside is backed by a ruined wall and has enough cover, making it an excellent sneaking point."
"So what if we get in? Fifteen guards are patrolling back and forth inside. If we go in, we will be the turtle in the urn."
"The factory building is filled with wooden boxes of supplies, and there are many blind spots. As long as you move quickly enough, you can use the blind spots of the guards' sight to search for the supplies you need, and you can evacuate immediately. "
Su Lin carefully looked at the air outlet through the telescope, then scanned the outer patrol route, and pondered for a moment: "How sure are you?"
"Forty percent."
"You dare to break through 40%?"
"Surviving in the wasteland, with a 40% chance of winning, is already a huge luxury." Lin Shuang slid down from the window sill and rested with his back against the broken wall. "Wait until it gets dark. The bonfire train lights are not far away, and the night is the best cover."
Su Lin also sat down, and the two sat opposite each other with a pile of belongings.
"Have you ever...sneaked in like this before?" Su Lin suddenly said.
"Yes." Lin Shuang was silent for a moment, rarely willing to say more, "Three times in the war zone. Twice I brought people out, but once I failed. After that time, I stopped taking people."
"Everything was successful?"
"Twice succeeded, once failed." Her tone was calm and emotionless, "The time we failed, six people died. Two hostages and four companions."
Su Lin didn’t ask whether she was sad or not.She could see that this person was never sad, he just suppressed all his weaknesses in his heart and wrapped them tightly with extreme calmness and reason.
"We won't lose this time." Su Lin said firmly. Page (1/3)
