Mother Shen stared at the car with her feet nailed to the ground.

The uncle reacted first, coughed dryly, took a step, stopped, and turned to look at the aunt. The eldest aunt's mouth opened, but nothing came out.

Lin Chuan didn't rush, just stood by the car door and waited.

Shen Man stepped forward and took her mother's arm, gently pulling it."Mom, get in the car."

Only then did Mother Shen move. She lowered her head and bent down to get into the back row. When she sat down, her hand unconsciously touched the leather seat.

The uncle and aunt followed him to the other side. The moment the aunt sat in, her buttocks shrank inward as soon as they were next to the seat, for fear of soiling other people's things.

The car door closes.

Lin Chuan walked around to the driver's seat, opened the door, sat in, and turned on the ignition.

Shen Man sat in the passenger seat with her seat belt buckled and glanced sideways at him.

Lin Chuan gave her a very shallow look and said nothing.

The car started and drove out of the county.

The back row was quiet for about three minutes.

The eldest aunt finally couldn't hold it in any longer, leaned forward, and her voice was more than an octave lower than it was in the living room just now.

"Xiao Lin, this car...is your own?"

"Yes, Auntie."

"Then... how much does this cost?"

Lin Chuan put one hand on the steering wheel and answered casually.

"Eighty thousand or so."

No one in the back row answered.

The eldest aunt's lips moved and then closed again.

The uncle put his hands on his knees and rubbed the seams of his trousers twice with his thumbs.

Mother Shen sat in the back, her head tilted slightly toward the car window, half of her face reflected in the glass. She works as a nurse in the town health center, earning 800 yuan a month.

Shen Man turned his head and looked at the passing fields and telephone poles outside the window, and the curve of the corner of his mouth could not be flattened no matter how hard it was.She sipped it hard, but still didn't hold it down.

After the car got on the highway, the eldest aunt said a few more words, but each sentence was less confident than the previous one. In the end, she basically just nodded and "hmm".

The uncle didn't speak again the whole time.

More than an hour later, the car got off the highway and entered Chengdu city.

Lin Chuan did not drive to a noisy place like Chunxi Road, but went straight to the Shangri-La Hotel on the edge of Jinjiang River. He was used to this brand when he lived in Shenzhen, and his first reaction was to look for it wherever he went.

The car parked under the hotel porch, and the doorman trotted over and opened the door.

When the eldest aunt got out of the car, her legs were a little weak, not because she had been sitting for a long time, but because the building in front of her was so high that she couldn't even see the top when she raised her head.

The crystal lamp in the porch is lit overhead, and the marble on the ground can illuminate people's shadows. Uniformed waiters stand in two rows, each with a standard smile on their face.

She subconsciously tugged on her coat and lifted the zipper.

The uncle's steps slowed down for a moment, walking at the back. He didn't know where to put his hands, and finally put them into his jacket pockets.

Mother Shen was supported by Shen Man and followed Lin Chuan step by step into the lobby.

The feeling of her feet on the carpet made her feel a little dazed. The best place she has ever been to in her life is the Xilaifu Restaurant in the county town. She went there during a banquet. The price was 400 yuan per table, which the whole family thought was expensive.

The receptionist at the front desk saw Lin Chuan approaching and stood up straight before he could speak.

"Hello sir, would you like to have a meal or check in?"

"Chinese restaurant, private room."

"Okay, please wait a moment." The receptionist picked up the phone and put it down thirty seconds later. "Sir, please come this way. Jinxiu Hall is ready for you."

The group of people followed the leader through the lobby and took the elevator to the third floor.

When the door of the private room opened, Mother Shen's footsteps paused.

The round table is covered with a crimson tablecloth, with a pot of orchids in the middle. The tableware is made of white porcelain with gold accents, and the chopstick rests are made of jade. The curtains were half-opened, and outside was the night view of Jinjiang River, with lights from the other side reflected on the water.

The waiter pulled out the chairs and invited people to sit down one by one.
