Lin Chuan read the text message and replied with two words.

"Available."

A few seconds later, Xia Ruobing sent the address.

"Tomorrow night at seven o'clock, there is a small restaurant near Jing'an Temple. It tastes good."

Lin Chuan replied: "You decide."

It stopped there for half a minute.

"As promised, I'll take it, but you're not allowed to take it away."

Lin Chuan looked at the screen and smiled.

"Okay."

The next night, Lin Chuan didn't let the driver park the car at the door.

The black Audi was parked at the corner of the street and he walked over.

The restaurant is hidden in a narrow road, with a small door and old-style chandeliers hanging behind the glass windows.

There are not many tables inside, there are a few black and white photos of old Shanghai on the wall, and Pingtan is playing softly on the radio.

Xia Ruobing has arrived.

She was sitting by the window, wearing a light gray sweater with her hair tied up. There was a menu and a glass of hot water on the table.

Seeing Lin Chuan come in, she stood for a moment.

"Here."

Lin Chuan walked over and sat down.

"Have you been here for a long time?"

"Ten minutes."

Xia Ruobing pushed the menu to him.

"I ordered two signatures first, you can see what else is added."

"No, that's enough."

Xia Ruobing glanced at him.

"Are you eating so easily now?"

"There's been a lot of socializing, and it would be nice to be able to sit down and have a quiet meal."

Xia Ruobing smiled.

"Then I've come to the right place today."

The food came quickly.

Braised in water, fried shrimps in oil, pickled and fresh, and a plate of green vegetables.

Not expensive, but hot enough.

Xia Ruobing picked up the chopsticks.

"I'm actually a little nervous."

Lin Chuan picked up a piece of fish.

"What are you nervous about?"

"Let's eat with you."

She paused.

"The last time I saw you, I still feel it's unreal. A high school classmate suddenly turned into the owner of an investment company, driving a Bentley, swiping a black card, and talking like everyone else has to listen."

Lin Chuan raised his head.

"Is this a compliment to me?"

"Forget it."

Xia Ruobing had a smile in her eyes.

The two chatted about high school for a while.

Who was hit with chalk while sleeping in class, who fell in love early and wrote a love letter with the wrong name, who cried the hardest on the day of graduation photos.

When I mention it again after a few years, those things are still there.

It’s just that the people who said it have changed.

Halfway through the meal, Xia Ruobing put down her chopsticks.

"Linchuan, I'm looking for you today because I have something to do."

"Work?"

"Yeah."

She didn't go around.

"I probably don't want to do this job anymore."

Lin Chuan didn't answer and waited for her to finish.

Xia Ruobing looked down at the cup.

"Liquor sales, to put it nicely, is channel maintenance. In reality, it means running to hotels, restaurants, and nightclubs, eating with customers, watching the manager's face, and waiting for a word from the purchaser."

"At first, I thought it was normal for business to be hard."

“I later learned that some orders were not obtained based on products.”

She raised her head and looked at Lin Chuan.

"I don't want to accompany you for drinks, and I don't want to rely on my smile to get orders. But if I don't do these things, the company will think I'm worthless."

"Last time Mr. Wang complained about me, the manager was already forcing me."
