The days passed like this.
Wang Jianxin slowly figured out the rules on the grassland. In the morning, I get up before dawn to express milk, make tea, and eat dried milk. Then he drove the sheep out, walked to the pasture and stayed there for a day, and came back when the sun was about to set.In the evening, we eat meat or noodles again, learn Mongolian for a while, and then go to bed.
Two meals a day, almost the same.
No vegetables, no fruits, no snacks. If you want to eat something sweet, you can only chew dried milk to bring out the little bit of sweetness.
The first week is the hardest. My stomach is always hungry, my mouth is always greedy, and my mind is always thinking about the big steamed buns, noodles with soybean paste, and sugar-fired food on the streets of Beijing.Thinking too much makes your mouth sour.
But Wang Jianxin remained silent. He knew it was useless to say anything, so he might as well save his energy and work.
Horse riding has improved a lot.It only took about ten days to go from lying on the horse without daring to move, to being able to sit up straight, to being able to trot for a while, to being able to hold the reins with one hand and drive the sheep.Su He said that he learned quickly, and Wang Jianxin himself knew that this was the patience of a 32-year-old soul at work. When I was a cook in my previous life, I spent a whole day standing in front of the stove. The most important thing I needed was patience.
I have learned a bit about herding sheep. The sheep may seem chaotic, but they actually have rules.Wherever the leader goes, the others follow. As long as you keep an eye on the leader, you don't have to worry too much about the rest. The sheep themselves know where the grass is best and where there is water, but they don't know how to plan their routes, so they need help driving them to good pastures.
Wang Jianxin goes out with Su He every day, his eyes and ears are not idle.
"The alkalinity of this pasture is high, and the sheep will have diarrhea if they eat too much."
"There is stagnant water in the depression over there in the spring. The sheep cannot drink it and will become bloated after drinking it."
"Did you see that pile of stones? That's Aobao. Walk around it, don't go through the middle."
Su He taught in a casual manner and talked about whatever came to mind.Wang Jianxin kept it all in mind.
He can now speak to Su He in simple Mongolian."Sainu" means hello, "Bayalla" means thank you, and "Ta" means you.Su He said that he learned Mongolian quickly. Wang Jianxin thought it might be because his brain worked better than before - he didn't know whether it was the sequelae of time travel or the practice of exercises.
When it comes to skills, it’s still the same.
Every night when Su He fell asleep, Wang Jianxin would sneak behind the yurt and practice in the space for a while.Sit cross-legged, regulate your breathing, focus on your Dantian, and feel the spiritual energy.
Nothing.
I’ve been sitting there for ten days and I haven’t even felt a fart.
Sometimes Wang Jianxin doubts whether this exercise is fake, but the text in his mind is clear and does not look like a lie.Maybe it's because he's not qualified?Or is it because you can’t calm down?
There are some changes in the space.
The fish in that small river can often be seen. They are all palm-sized, black, and I don’t know what species they are.Wang Jianxin wondered if he could catch a few fish and raise them, but he was afraid that they would be raised to death.
The land is still empty. He tried bringing in a handful of soil from outside and compared it with the soil in space. The soil on the grassland outside is yellow and dry, while the soil in the space is dark brown, oily and moist in the hand, and obviously much fatter.
"If we plant potatoes here, I'm afraid they can grow as big as a human head." Wang Jianxin would repeat it every time he came in.
But what about the seeds?
He asked Su He if the production team would farm.Su He said that the herdsmen did not cultivate the land and relied on the state to provide food. Flour was worth a hair per person every month. There is no need to think about the dishes, which are rarely seen throughout the year.
Wang Jianxin asked again, what should the educated youth do if they want to grow vegetables?Su He said that they opened a palm-sized piece of land behind the Educated Youth Point and planted some radishes. They harvested about 20 kilograms last fall and finished them in a few days.
Twenty kilograms of radishes can be eaten by a dozen people for several days.
After Wang Jianxin heard this, he completely gave up the idea of producing seeds from the production team.
You have to find another way.
That afternoon, Wang Jianxin was tending sheep on the pasture when he saw a man riding a horse from a distance.
When I got closer, I recognized him - it was Zhang Aiguo.
"Jianxin!" Zhang Aiguo jumped off the horse, his face was sunburned and red, his lips were chapped and peeled, "I've found you."
"What's wrong?"
"Li Hongmei is sick," Zhang Aiguo said. "I had diarrhea for two days and started to have a fever this morning. I was all confused. We called the commune health worker. The health worker said it might be acute dysentery. There was no medicine there, so we sent her to Qili Hospital."
"Did you send it as a gift?"
"There is no car." Zhang Aiguo rubbed his hands in a hurry. "The production team only has a carriage. They went to collect food yesterday and will not come back until tomorrow. A few of us educated youths discussed riding a horse to send her there, but she was in such a state that she couldn't ride a horse. Everyone said that I should come to you and ask you if there is anything you can do or if you have brought any medicine."
Wang Jianxin frowned.
Acute dysentery can kill people if it lasts for a long time.
"Take me to see it."
He handed the sheep to Su He and rode back with Zhang Aiguo.
A circle of people gathered at the entrance of the Educated Youth Point.Wang Jianxin opened the door curtain and went in. He saw Li Hongmei lying on the kang, her face was sallow, her lips were white, and her forehead was hot to the touch.
He squatted down and put his hand on Li Hongmei's wrist.
With this combination, things in my mind automatically flowed out.
Thready and rapid pulse, yellow and greasy tongue coating, abdominal pain with severe tenesmus, and red and white pus and blood in the stool - it is indeed damp-heat dysentery, containing epidemic toxins.According to the master's medical judgment, this was acute bacillary dysentery, with signs of mild dehydration and electrolyte imbalance.
"Is there any medicine?" Wang Jianxin asked.
"No." Zhang Aiguo said, "The hygienist only has red liquid, purple liquid, and painkillers."
Wang Jianxin was silent for a few seconds.
He has dozens of remedies for dysentery in his mind.Pulsatilla decoction, peony decoction, Pueraria lobata and Qinlian decoction...all the prescriptions are effective. The problem is there is no medicine. In this era, commune health centers lack even berberine, let alone traditional Chinese medicine.
"Are there any old tea leaves?" Wang Jianxin asked suddenly.
"What?" Zhang Aiguo didn't hear clearly.
"Old tea is the kind that has been stored for several years. The older the tea, the better."
"I have it over there." A female educated youth said, "My mother brought it to me, but I have never been willing to drink it."
"Bring it here."
The female educated youth ran back and got a bag of tea.Wang Jianxin opened it and took a look. It was ordinary jasmine tea. It had been stored for at least a year or two. The color had darkened and the fragrance had disappeared. Page (1/3)
