After breakfast, the village chief Chen Laoshuan drove the carriage in person.

"Old Lin, Mrs. Wang and Mrs. Wang were both involved. They were also responsible for the things thrown away by the Liu family." Chen Laoshuan jumped out of the car and patted Lin Xiao on the shoulder, "I will send someone to escort them to the county government office in the afternoon."

"Thank you for your hard work, Lao Chen." Lin Xiao smiled.

"Why are we two so polite?" Chen Laoshuan waved his hand.

"When I come back from the county town, I'll buy some wine and let us have a good drink."

"Sure! Then I'll wait!"

After seeing off the village chief, Lin Xiao loaded half a fan of pork onto the carriage and covered it tightly with a straw mat.

Shangguan Feiyan had been waiting by the car for a long time, with bright eyes.

"Let's go." Lin Xiao raised his whip.

As the carriage drove out of the village, Shangguan Feiyan sat on the edge of the carriage, swinging her legs, looking at the snowy scenery on the roadside, and suddenly said: "Old man, can I have a bowl of duck blood and vermicelli soup when I get to the city?"

"You can't call me old man." Lin Xiao didn't even look back.

Shangguan Feiyan rolled his eyes: "Uncle Lin..."

"That's pretty much it."

The carriage creaked forward on the snowy road.

After walking for more than an hour, Shangguan Feiyan suddenly frowned and held his stomach.

At first she held back and didn't say anything, but the pain became more and more intense, and sweat broke out on her forehead.

"What's wrong?" Lin Xiao noticed something was wrong.

"My stomach hurts... I'm a little anxious." Shangguan Feiyan's voice was weak, "Can you stop for a moment?"

Lin Xiao reined in his horse.

There was snow all around and there was no one around.

He pursed his lips toward the dead grass on the roadside and said, "Go over there and deal with it. I'll wait for you."

Shangguan Feiyan jumped out of the car, walked a few steps and then turned back: "You, don't leave me and run away!"

"No." Lin Xiao laughed.

Shangguan Feiyan felt relieved now and trotted behind a big rock and squatted down.

Half the stick of incense has passed, but the person has not returned yet.

"Not yet?" Lin Xiao asked loudly.

"I ate too much crystal clams this morning... now!" Shangguan Feiyan's voice came from behind the stone.

After a while, she suddenly froze - she didn't bring toilet paper.

There was a vast expanse of white everywhere, not even a leaf.

In desperation, she gritted her teeth, took off a cotton sock, wiped it hastily, and threw the sock far into the snowdrift.

Just as he was about to lift his pants, a dark shadow suddenly emerged from the cracks in the stone.

"Ah——!"

The shrill screams pierced the snowy field.

Lin Xiao's expression changed, he jumped out of the car and rushed over.

He thought he had encountered a wolf, but when he ran behind the boulder, he saw Shangguan Feiyan paralyzed in the snow, his pants down to his knees, and his legs were dazzlingly white in the snow light.

"What's wrong?"

"Snake... a snake bit me..." Shangguan Feiyan turned pale and pointed at her thigh.

Lin Xiao's heart sank.

There are many venomous snakes in this mountain. Although they rarely move in winter, if you are bitten by a snake that has just woken up from hibernation, it will be the most poisonous.

He looked down and saw that there were indeed a row of teeth marks on her inner thigh.

Lin Xiao breathed a sigh of relief when he saw this. Rows of bite marks like this were most likely from non-venomous snakes.
