At Yangshupu Pier, at four o'clock in the morning, fog began to form on the river, and it was so thick that it could not be dissolved.

Fujimaru was parked in position three, with dark shadows like a giant beast squatting in the water.

Double posts were added around the pier, and searchlights scanned once every thirty seconds, beams of light splitting and closing in the fog.

Two gendarmes led the wolfdog back and forth in the berth.

The dog's tongue was hanging out, breathing white air, and its paws clicked on the frost.

The coolies ran toward the cabin carrying sacks, stumbling.

At this moment, an old man slipped, the sack fell to the ground, and the rice was scattered all over the floor.

"Baga!" Escort officer Matsumoto kicked him. The old man rolled twice and lay on the ground without daring to move.

"Taijun, Taijun, I'm sorry...I'm sorry...the road is too slippery..."

Matsumoto pulled out his pistol and put it on the back of the old man's head, "I don't want to hear your excuses, lick it clean for me! Not even a grain of rice is left!"

"Yes...yes..."

The old man lay on the ground, his fingers stiff with cold.

The grains of rice were embedded in the cracks of the bricks. He dug his nails until his nails cracked, blood seeped out, and mixed with the rice, he stuffed handfuls into his mouth.

Kasuga Maru was moored next door, its motor was already roaring, and the soldiers of the 7th Squadron lined up to board the ship, their leather boots making a thumping sound on the deck.

Two machine guns were mounted on the bow, and the mortars were covered with canvas.

Half of the barrel was exposed, pitch black, like an iron pipe waiting to open its eyes.

"In this damn weather, visibility is less than thirty meters."

The captain of Kasugamaru stood in the cab, holding a wine glass, "Matsumoto-kun, the mortars have been brought up, are you too nervous?"

"Shut up!"

Matsumoto jumped over from Fujimaru, his saber dangling at his side, "Add double posts on the front and rear decks, and put the wolfdog on the bow.

If you find a suspicious ship, shoot directly without asking for instructions!"

"Hi!"

The searchlight swept across the river, and the beam of light split and closed in the fog.

At four o'clock sharp, Fujimaru entered a curve. The boat slowed down, the motor sound became low, and the bow seemed to be groping in thick fog.

Matsumoto stood on the front deck with his saber on the ground and his hand on the handle.

The fog was so thick that he couldn't see the surface of the river clearly. He could only hear the sound of water flowing, rushing, rushing.

"Searchlight!"

A beam of light swept out and spread out in the fog. The visibility was not high and the light could not reach far.
