Chapter 14: Surrender the beast wisely and meet the gatekeeper

The air in the Bronze Hall is as dry as a tomb that has been stored for thousands of years.

Su Yu stood at the landing point of the teleportation formation, and the cold sweat seeping out of his vest was blown away by the cold wind from nowhere in the palace.

The aftereffects of three hundred breaths of burning are still there - the bones of his limbs seem to have been removed and stuffed back, and with every step he takes, he can hear the dry friction of his joints.

He looked around.

The hall is dozens of feet high, and the dome is covered with dense star maps. The starlight slowly flows along the carvings, like some kind of timekeeping method that has been lost for a long time.

The walls of the palace are made of a single piece of bronze, and the bronze surface is covered with a layer of dark green patina. Under the patina, the outlines of reliefs can be faintly seen - they are war scenes, with some people wielding swords at the sky, and others being reduced to ashes in the flames.

All the relief figures have the same expression: looking up to the sky, with angry eyes.

Su Yu knew what these reliefs were about.

The memory fragments of Su Xuan's evil thoughts contained the same scene - the destruction of the Time Clan.

He didn't linger long.

There is a straight corridor in the center of the hall, leading to the second door.

There are twelve bronze statues standing on both sides of the corridor, each of them three feet tall, holding a long sword, with the tips of the swords hanging low and crossing over the corridor, forming a cold and cold blade corridor.

The face of the figure was deliberately chiselled, leaving only a smooth slope, like twelve blurry mirrors.

Su Yu walked through it.

The sound of footsteps bounced and echoed in the bronze corridor, changing from one sound to two sounds, and from two sounds to countless sounds.

He didn't stop or look back.

People who have stayed in the mines for three years have long since learned to live with the echoes in the darkness.

At the end of the corridor is the second-level door, which is nine feet high and made of bronze. On the door is engraved a line of ancestral seals of the Shi clan.

"Only those who hold the King of Time Monument can enter this door."

Su Yu pressed the seal character "Shi" on the back of his hand against the bronze door.

Dark golden light gushed out from the back of the hand and spread along the strokes of the seal script.

A series of dull gear gnashing sounds came from the bronze door, and the door leaf slowly opened inwards.

The second major hall is larger than the first. The hall is empty except for a high platform standing in the center.

There is a "person" standing on the high platform.

No, not people.

It is a body that is exactly the same as a living person - it is wearing a green Taoist robe, with white beard and hair, a thin face, and closed eyes.

He was not breathing and had no heartbeat, but his skin was still bloody and his beard and hair were still flowing slightly.

Su Yu recognized this face.

He had seen it twice - once in the mine and once in Guiwai Cliff Pool.

His fingers pressed on the handle of the knife involuntarily.

Su Xuan's evil thoughts have been fused by him. What is living in this body?

"The eighty-sixth generation gatekeeper of the Shi clan, Su Baishi."

A deep voice sounded from all directions at the same time, and it was unclear whether it was coming from that body or from the entire hall, "According to the order of the patriarch, I will guard the Seed of Time for nine hundred and seventy-two and three months.

Are you the successor?"

"Su Yu."

He withdrew the hand holding the knife.

The body opened its eyes.

There are no eyeballs in the eye sockets, only two slowly rotating golden whirlpools, which are exactly the same as Su Xuan's evil thoughts but completely different - Su Xuan's evil thoughts' eyes are hungry, but these two whirlpools are calm, like two thousand-year-old ancient wells.

"The person chosen by Su Xuan."

Su Baishi's voice had some changes. It came from the throat of that body, and every word had the rough feeling of rubbing sand and stone, "He chose a mining slave."

Su Yu was not stung by these words, but smiled: "The life of a mine slave is tough."

Su Baishi was silent for a moment, and the two golden vortexes shrank slightly, as if he was examining the young man in front of him.

Then he spoke: "People who have a tough life often have a miserable life.

There are already seven black marks on your body - two were left by Su Xuanshan when he passed you the King's Monument, one was left by you when you were fighting, and the rest were all given to you by evil thoughts."

Su Yu said nothing.

Su Baishi continued: "Evil thoughts have been competing with the way of heaven all their lives, and they never won even until their death.

He passed on his desire for revenge to you, which is equivalent to etching his obsession into your life."

"I know."

Su Yu's tone was equally calm, "He told me clearly."

"You know it and you still accept it?"

"If you don't accept it, I'll be dead on Guwai Cliff now."
